temporary filling
Short-term dental patch
A temporary filling is a dental restoration meant to last only until a permanent filling can be placed.
Dentists use them to protect a tooth between appointments, often after emergency treatment or while waiting for a crown to be fabricated.
The material is softer and less durable than permanent fillings: The temporary filling held up fine until my next visit.
