permanent filling
Durable dental repair
A permanent filling is a dental restoration intended to last for years, as opposed to a temporary filling placed as a short-term measure.
The term is somewhat misleading—no filling lasts forever, and most eventually need replacement due to wear or decay.
Common materials include amalgam, composite resin, and gold: The dentist replaced my temporary filling with a permanent one.
