tam-o'-shanter
Flat woolen bonnet
A tam-o'-shanter is a round, flat woolen cap with a pompom at the center, traditionally associated with Scotland.
Named after the hero of a Robert Burns poem, it fits snugly around the head while the crown extends outward.
Often shortened to tam: She pulled her tam down over her ears against the wind.
