tailgate party
Stadium lot gathering
A tailgate party is a social gathering held in a parking lot before a sporting event, concert, or similar occasion.
Participants set up around the open tailgates of trucks and SUVs, grilling food, drinking, and socializing: We got there four hours early for the tailgate party.
The tradition is especially associated with American football.
