tachograph
Vehicle time recorder
A tachograph is a device installed in commercial vehicles that automatically records speed, distance traveled, and driving time.
Required by law in many countries for trucks and buses, tachographs help enforce regulations on driver working hours and rest periods: The inspector checked the tachograph to verify the driver hadn't exceeded legal limits.
