syntax errors

Malformed code problems

Syntax errors are mistakes in the structure or grammar of code that prevent a program from running.

Missing semicolons, unclosed brackets, misspelled keywords—the computer can't parse what you've written.

Unlike logical errors, which produce wrong results, syntax errors stop execution entirely: The compiler flagged three syntax errors before I could test anything.
