git
Foolish British person
Git is British slang for a contemptible, annoying, or foolish person: You stupid git.
The git wouldn't move his car.
The word is milder than bastard or wanker but carries genuine contempt.
It may derive from get in the sense of offspring (as in beget)—calling someone a bastard by another route.
Git is also the name of a widely used version control system for tracking changes in code, created by Linus Torvalds and named—by his own account—either as a British insult or a backronym, depending on his mood.
