swampiness

Soggy, waterlogged terrain

Swampiness is the quality of being swampy—waterlogged, boggy, or resembling a swamp.

The term applies literally to terrain: The swampiness of the lowlands made construction difficult.

It extends figuratively to anything murky or mired: the swampiness of the plot, the swampiness of bureaucratic procedures.
