surgical staples
Incision closure hardware
Surgical staples are small metal fasteners used to close wounds or incisions during surgery.
They work like office staples but are made of stainless steel or titanium and designed for body tissue.
Staples close wounds faster than sutures and are common for skin closures, internal organ repair, and connecting sections of bowel: The surgeon used surgical staples to close the incision.
They're removed with a special tool once healing progresses, or in some cases are absorbable.
