Butterfly closures are small adhesive bandages used to hold the edges of a wound together, shaped like a bow tie or butterfly with narrow center and wider ends.
They serve as an alternative to stitches for minor cuts: The nurse applied butterfly closures to the gash on his forehead.
Also called butterfly stitches or Steri-Strips.
