sugar-mill
Sweetener extraction factory
A sugar-mill is a facility where sugarcane or sugar beets are processed to extract sugar.
The term also refers to the machinery itself—the heavy rollers that crush cane to release its juice.
Sugar-mills were historically central to plantation economies in the Caribbean and American South: The old sugar-mill still stands on the estate.
