subvocalizes
Reads without sound
Subvocalizes means to silently pronounce words while reading or thinking, moving the lips or throat muscles without producing audible sound.
Most readers subvocalize to some degree—it's the little voice in your head as you read.
Speed-reading techniques often aim to reduce subvocalizing: I had to train myself not to subvocalize every word.
