subbasements

Floors beneath basements

Subbasements are basement levels below the main basement of a building.

Large structures like hospitals, hotels, and skyscrapers often have multiple underground floors for mechanical systems, storage, or parking: The boiler room is in the subbasement.

The prefix sub- indicates a position beneath what is already beneath ground level.
