stuffed-shirts
Self-important bores
Stuffed-shirts are pompous, self-important people who take themselves too seriously and cling to conventional formality.
The term evokes someone puffed up with their own importance, like a shirt stuffed to hold a rigid shape: The board was full of stuffed-shirts who couldn't see past their own traditions.
