street racer
Illegal drag competitor
A street racer is someone who races vehicles illegally on public roads, typically at night when traffic is light.
The term covers both the drivers and, by extension, the modified cars they drive: a souped-up street racer with nitrous.
Street racing culture has its own subculture of meetups, rivalries, and spectators, popularized by films like *The Fast and the Furious*.
