storm track
Hurricane's predicted course
A storm track is the path a storm system follows as it moves across a region, or more broadly, a corridor where storms frequently travel.
Meteorologists use the term both ways: The hurricane's storm track shifted east overnight describes a single storm's trajectory, while the North Atlantic storm track refers to the belt where cyclones routinely cross the ocean.
Weather forecasts often show projected storm tracks as lines on maps.
