stick grenade
Handle-mounted hand bomb
A stick grenade is a hand grenade with a handle attached, allowing it to be thrown farther than a compact grenade.
The design is most associated with German military use in both World Wars—the iconic "potato masher" shape.
The handle also provided leverage for pulling the ignition cord.
Modern armies have largely abandoned the design in favor of smaller, lighter grenades.
