steel cut oats
Coarse Irish porridge
Steel cut oats are whole oat grains that have been chopped into pieces rather than rolled flat.
They have a chewy, nutty texture and take longer to cook than rolled oats—typically 20 to 30 minutes.
Also called Irish oats or pinhead oats: I make a batch of steel cut oats on Sunday and reheat portions all week.
