state-church

Government-endorsed religious body

A state-church is an official religious institution established or endorsed by a government, often receiving public funding and legal privileges.

England has the Anglican Church; several Scandinavian countries have Lutheran state-churches.

The term can also function as an adjective describing the relationship between government and religion: state-church separation, state-church conflicts.
