star base
Orbital command center
A star base is a military or scientific installation in space, typically appearing in science fiction.
The term evokes a permanent facility for spacecraft operations—refueling, repairs, command functions—analogous to a naval base on Earth.
The fleet regrouped at the star base before the assault.
Star Trek popularized the term, though it appears across the genre.
