springback
Material's elastic recovery
Springback is the tendency of a material to partially return to its original shape after being bent or formed.
In metalworking and manufacturing, engineers must account for springback when shaping sheet metal, overbending slightly so the final piece holds the desired angle.
The term also describes any elastic rebound: The foam cushion has good springback.
