spear fishing
Aquatic prey pursuit
Spear fishing is hunting fish underwater using a pointed spear or spear gun.
The fisher typically swims or dives to locate prey, then thrusts or shoots the spear to impale the fish.
It's one of the oldest fishing methods, now practiced both as sport and for subsistence: He caught a grouper while spear fishing off the reef.
