soliloquising

Talking to oneself

Soliloquising is speaking one's thoughts aloud, especially when alone or unaware of listeners.

The term comes from theater, where a soliloquy reveals a character's inner thoughts to the audience: Hamlet soliloquising on mortality.

Outside drama, it suggests talking to oneself or musing aloud without expecting response.
