soft plastic
Flexible synthetic material
Soft plastic refers to flexible, pliable plastic materials as opposed to rigid ones—the kind used in bags, packaging film, squeeze bottles, and flexible tubing.
In fishing, soft plastics are artificial lures made from pliable synthetic material, molded to imitate worms, grubs, crawfish, or baitfish: I rigged a soft plastic on a jig head.
The term also appears in recycling contexts, where soft plastics often require separate collection from hard plastics.
