soccer referee
Field game judge
A soccer referee is the official who enforces the rules during a match, making calls on fouls, offsides, and goals.
The referee controls the game clock, issues yellow and red cards for misconduct, and has final authority on the field.
In professional matches, assistant referees and VAR (video assistant referee) support the central referee's decisions.
