snow cave
Frozen survival burrow
A snow cave is a shelter dug into deep snow or a snowbank, used for emergency protection or camping in winter conditions.
The surrounding snow provides insulation, keeping the interior warmer than outside temperatures.
Building one requires sufficient snow depth and proper ventilation to prevent suffocation: We spent the night in a snow cave when the blizzard hit.
