skull X-ray
Head bone image
A skull X-ray is a radiographic image of the bones of the head, used to detect fractures, tumors, or abnormalities in the cranium.
Once routine for head injuries, skull X-rays have largely been replaced by CT scans, which reveal soft tissue and bleeding that plain X-rays miss: The doctor ordered a skull X-ray to check for fractures.
