single speed
No gear shifting
Single speed describes a bicycle with only one gear ratio—no shifters, no derailleur, just one chainring and one rear cog.
The simplicity appeals to urban commuters and minimalists who prefer fewer components to maintain.
Single speed bikes aren't the same as fixies; they have a freewheel that allows coasting.
I ride a single speed around the city because I hate adjusting gears.
