shoveller

One who digs

Shoveller is a chiefly British spelling of shoveler, which has two meanings.

One who shovels is a shoveller: The shovellers cleared the sidewalk after the blizzard.

A shoveller is also a dabbling duck with a distinctive broad, flat bill used for filtering food from water and mud.

The northern shoveller, found across Europe, Asia, and North America, is the most widespread species.
