shoe bomber
Explosive footwear attacker
A shoe bomber is a person who attempts to detonate explosives concealed in footwear, typically aboard an aircraft.
The term entered common use after Richard Reid's failed 2001 attempt to blow up a transatlantic flight with explosives hidden in his shoes—an incident that led to passengers being required to remove shoes at airport security checkpoints.
