ship launching
Champagne bottle ceremony
Ship launching is the ceremony and process of moving a newly built vessel from dry dock into water for the first time.
Traditionally involves breaking a bottle of champagne against the hull and assigning the ship its name: The queen presided over the launching of the aircraft carrier.
The ship slides down greased rails or is lowered by cranes into the water.
