shero

Woman of courage

Shero blends *she* and *hero* to mean a female hero—a woman admired for courage, accomplishment, or noble qualities.

The word emerged from feminist discourse as an alternative to *hero*, which some felt defaulted to male: She's been my shero since I was a teenager.

Often used playfully or emphatically rather than as a standard replacement.
