settler colony
Imported population state
A settler colony is a territory where colonizers arrive intending to stay permanently, displacing or replacing the indigenous population rather than merely extracting resources or ruling from afar.
The settlers become the dominant population and establish their own society: Australia, the United States, and Israel are often cited as settler colonies.
The term appears frequently in academic and political discourse, often critically, to highlight ongoing effects of colonization on native peoples.
