setting down
Laying something somewhere
Setting down is the act of placing something on a surface: She paused, setting down her coffee cup.
It also means recording in writing: He spent years setting down his memoirs.
To set someone down is to let them out of a vehicle at a destination.
A setting down can be a rebuke—putting someone in their place.
