agitated
Unable to settle
Agitated describes a state of nervous excitement or troubled restlessness.
Someone who is agitated may pace, fidget, or have difficulty staying calm: The agitated passengers demanded answers about the delay.
The word applies equally to emotional upset and physical disturbance—water can be agitated by stirring, just as a person can be agitated by bad news.
In clinical contexts, agitated often describes patients experiencing confusion or distress.
