grudge

Nursed old anger

A grudge is resentment held against someone for a past wrong, real or perceived.

To hold or bear a grudge is to nurse that resentment rather than let it go: She's still holding a grudge about what happened at the wedding.

The verb grudge means to give or allow reluctantly: I don't grudge him his success, but I wish he'd stop bragging.
