seek time
Head movement duration
Seek time is the interval a computer's hard drive takes to position its read/write head over the correct track on the disk.
It's a key measure of drive performance—shorter seek times mean faster data access.
The term belongs to mechanical drives with spinning platters; solid-state drives have no moving parts and thus no seek time.
