body scanners
Airport screening devices
Body scanners are security devices that create images of a person's body to detect concealed objects.
Most commonly encountered at airports, they use millimeter waves or X-rays to reveal items hidden under clothing without physical contact: I had to step into the body scanner with my arms raised.
The technology has sparked privacy debates over how much anatomical detail the images reveal.
