second death
Final spiritual destruction
Second death is a theological term from the Book of Revelation referring to the final, permanent destruction or eternal damnation of the soul after divine judgment—distinct from physical death, which is merely the first.
The concept appears in Christian eschatology as the fate awaiting those condemned at the Last Judgment: The lake of fire is the second death.
Some traditions interpret it as annihilation of the soul; others as eternal conscious torment.
