scrub out
Erase by cleaning
To scrub out is to clean the inside of something thoroughly by scrubbing: She scrubbed out the pot before putting it away.
The phrase emphasizes removing residue or buildup from an interior surface—pans, tubs, containers.
In British and Australian slang, to scrub out can also mean to cancel or abandon plans: We had to scrub out the whole operation.
