schlockmeister
Cheap merchandise dealer
A schlockmeister is someone who produces or sells cheap, low-quality goods—especially in entertainment.
The term combines schlock (Yiddish-derived slang for trashy merchandise) with the German suffix for master, giving it an ironic formality: Hollywood schlockmeister Roger Corman made hundreds of B-movies.
The word carries grudging affection as often as contempt.
