salt-tolerant
Thrives despite brine
Salt-tolerant describes organisms, especially plants, that can survive and thrive in saline conditions that would kill or stunt most species.
The term appears most often in agriculture and ecology: salt-tolerant crops for coastal farms, salt-tolerant grasses for roadside plantings where winter de-icing occurs.
Some plants are naturally salt-tolerant; others have been bred or engineered for the trait.
