salesgirls

Female retail workers

Salesgirls is the plural of salesgirl, a female retail clerk or shop assistant.

The term was common through the mid-twentieth century but has fallen out of favor as gendered job titles have declined: The salesgirls at the department store wore matching uniforms.

Salesperson or sales associate are now preferred in most contexts.
