safe workplace
Protected professional setting
A safe workplace is an environment where employees are protected from physical hazards, health risks, and—increasingly—harassment or psychological harm.
The term appears in labor law, union negotiations, and corporate policy: OSHA sets standards for a safe workplace.
What constitutes "safe" has expanded over time to include not just hard hats and fire exits but also protection from discrimination, bullying, and hostile working conditions.
