1099 forms
Independent contractor documents
1099 forms are tax documents reporting income paid to someone other than a regular employee.
Businesses issue them to independent contractors, freelancers, and others who received payments during the tax year: I got a 1099 from every client I did work for.
The IRS uses 1099s to track income that isn't captured by W-2 wage reporting.
Various types exist—1099-NEC for nonemployee compensation, 1099-INT for interest, 1099-DIV for dividends.
