sadiron
Heated laundry weight
A sadiron is a heavy flat iron for pressing clothes, heated on a stove or fire before use.
The name distinguishes it from later electric irons.
Sadirons typically had detachable handles so one iron could heat while another was in use: She kept two sadirons rotating on the woodstove.
