rough paper
Abrasive crafting material
Rough paper is paper with a textured, uneven surface rather than a smooth finish.
Artists favor it for certain techniques—the texture catches charcoal, pastel, and graphite differently than smooth paper does: I prefer rough paper for sketching.
In watercolor, rough paper creates distinctive effects as paint settles into the surface irregularities.
