rocky beach
Stone-covered coastal stretch
A rocky beach is a shoreline composed primarily of stones, pebbles, or boulders rather than sand.
Unlike sandy beaches, rocky beaches often feature tide pools, barnacle-covered surfaces, and require careful footing: We picked our way across the rocky beach to reach the cove.
The term describes both the geological formation and the recreational destination.
