rockfill
Coarse stone aggregate
Rockfill is coarse rock material used to construct dams, embankments, and other large earthworks.
A rockfill dam uses compacted rock fragments as its primary structural element, often with a clay core or concrete facing to prevent water seepage.
The term also describes the process of filling an area with such material: The engineers specified rockfill for the foundation.
