roaches

Unwelcome nocturnal insects

Roaches is the plural of roach—a shortened form of cockroach, the hardy household pest notorious for surviving almost anything.

In drug slang, a roach is the butt end of a marijuana cigarette, too short to hold without burning your fingers: He saved the roaches to roll into a new joint.

A roach clip holds these remnants for smoking.
